word problem

Working together, it takes two computers
20
minutes to send out a company's email. If it takes the slower computer
60
minutes to do the job on its own, how long will it take the faster computer to do the job on its own?
Do not do any rounding

I think this is a poorly designed problem because how do two computers work together to send out email to people listed in one file?  There would have to be some sort of accountancy to make sure that all intended recipients were covered, and nothing was duplicated--this would be additional overhead (and software design, probably) in order to be set up properly.

I'll bet this is a recent Common Core problem. Many times Common Core problems lack common sense.
I suggest that you share this observation with a parent and that the school should be queried. Prior to Common Core, word problems actually made sense, but C.C. has struck fear into schools and the good books have been retired. Shame!
