My 3rd Graders story problem

The local store had 273 packs of Gushers in the back. Yesterday they brought 179 packs to the front, and today, they brought 89 to the front. How many fewer packs of Gushers do they have in the back?

If she is to add 179 packs and 89 packs together and then subtract her answer from 273 she will get her answer.

That's what we initially thought, but wouldn't that answer have a  question that reads, How many packs of Gushers are left in the back?  Not, how many fewer packs do they have in the back?
