From the information below, what would be the balance forward that would result from these transactions?
Starting balance: $1,115.75
June 15, 20xx, check #439 issued to Griscom Hardware for supplies in the amount of $98.72
June 16, 20xx, deposit of $529.86
June 19, 20xx, check #440 issued to Bell Telephone Co. for telephone bill, in the amount of $126.59

John,
When you write a check you deduct (subtract) the amount od the check from the balance. When you make a deposit you add the amount of the deposit to the balance. The balance I got $1,420.30 for the final balance.

There is no point in being confused.
Just simply subtract issued checks from balance , and add amounts of deposit to find the new balance after all that transactions:
$ 1, 115 .75 - ( 98,72- 529.86 + 126,59) =1420.30
