"What scenario or problem could occur in your life in which you can apply the scientific method?
I am having trouble coming up with a scenario, i need help."
What a wonderful opportunity to introduce the concept of "metalanguage." Metalanguage is used to describe the syntax of a question: <verb><subject><?> like "Are you Aileen?" It is used to describe legal commands to a computer.
Broadly, any metalanguage is language or symbols used when language itself is being discussed or examined.
So, you are faced with the problem of describing a problem for which you use the scientific method for solution. That is, you can use the scientific method to solve this problem.
Let's use sciencebuddies.org's nice diagram to go though the scientific method:
Ask a question? What daily problem do I face that can be solved using the scientific method?
Do background research. I have considered my daily schedule and determined that I have homework to do almost every day. I need help!
Construct a Hypothesis. At least one tutor on the WyzAnt Answers Forum will answer this question.
Test with an experiment. O.K., I posted the question; now I wait.
Procedure working? Yes!! I have a few answers and I understand them. However, if not, I would troubleshoot my procedure and re-try my test (maybe somewhere else).
Analyze Data and Draw Conclusions. I'm really encouraged that tutors want to help me for free. Someday, I might pay for a regular tutor. WyzAnt is providing a great opportunity to find a caring, effective tutor.
Align Results with Hypotheses. Yes, at least one tutor on the WyzAnt Answers Forum answered my question. However, if they don't, I would construct a new hypothesis and try another experiment.
Communicate Results. I should write a "Thank You" comment to the tutors who responded. And, I think that I will recommend this service (both the free Answers Forum and the tutor-finding service) to others.
