How do I acquire 3.75 out of this?

You've just received your first paycheck, and
you want to use it to take friends to a movie!
Your paycheck is $125

The price of a movie is $6

I can take 20 friends to the movies, and I have $5 for snacks.

Assuming the total cost for your snacks is $80, After subtracting the money left over from the movie tickets, each friend will have to pay (?) for snacks?

I know the answer is $3.75. How is this answer reached? I'm Having difficulties gathering the information required.

Each movie ticket is $6

 

The cost of 20 tickets (for all of your friends) is 6 * 120 = $120

 

Your paycheck is $125, so subtracting the cost of the movie tickets leaves you with 125 - 120 = $5 for snacks

 

The total cost of the snacks is $80

 

If you pay $5 for snacks, your friends will have to pay 80 - 5 = $75

 

There are 20 friends. If they divide the cost among themselves evenly, then each friend will have to pay 

 

75/20 = 3 15/20 = 3 3/4 = 3.75 or $3.75
