The ages of three brothers are consecutive integers with the sum of 96. How old are the brothers?

I need help with algebra 1 word problems. I'm not good with algebra so it would help me a lot.

Let n be the age of the youngest brother.  Then the three ages are:

 

n

n + 1

n + 2

 

These add up to 96:

 

n + (n + 1) + (n + 2) = 96

3n + 3 = 96

n + 1 = 96/3 = 32

n = 32 - 1 = 31

 

The three ages are 31, 32, and 33.
