20 ounces of 50%  Gold alloy +80 ounces of 40% Gold alloy=resulting  Gold alloy

                               0.50*20 + 0.40*80 = x(20+80)

                                    0.50*20 + 0.40*80 = 100x
                                        10 + 32 =100x

                                          42 =100x

 

                                          0.42 = x
