The greater of two integers is 3 more then twice the smaller. The sum of the two integers is 15. What is the large and small number?

Let x = smaller no.

2x + 3 = greater no.

 

x + (2x + 3) = 15

3x + 3 = 15

3x = 12

x = 4 = smaller number

 

The greater number is 2x + 3 = 2(4) + 3 = 8 + 3 = 11
