Sarah has saved $240 at the end of the first three months, and Susan has saved $270 at the end of the first four months. Who has saved more per month and by how much?

so Sarah saved 240 in three months, so we need to divide here:

240 / 3 = 80 dollars a month

 

next we have 270 in four months:

270 / 4 = 67.5 dollars a month

 

80 > 67.5, so Sarah has save more.

 

80 - 67.5 = 12.5, so Sarah saves $12.50 more per month

First we calculate how much each saved per month:

 

Sarah saved $240 in 3 months, so she saved 240÷3 or $80 per month.

Susan saved $270 in 4 months, so she save 270÷4 or $67.50 per month.
