To complete the table, sub the given x value from column 1 into the linear equation listed in column 2. This will give you the y value. You then use this value and the original x value to write the ordered pair for column 3.
Let's look at the first one together.x = -1 (Given in column 1.)
y = 2x + 1 (Given in column 2.)
y = 2(-1) + 1 (Sub -1 for x.)
y = -2 + 1 (Follow order of operations and multiply 2 x -1.)
y = -1 (Add -2 + 1 to finish solving for y.)
(-1, -1) (Solution for column 3.)
Once you have found all 3 (x, y) ordered pairs, you can use these points to graph the line. Remember to connect the dots and put arrows on the end!
