This is not true. On the contrary, every staff of an organization is directly or indirectly responsible for creating and maintaining good relationships with stakeholders as well as protecting corporate reputation. This task is especially true for all the employees that have one form of interaction or the other with the organization’s various stakeholders, irrespective of where the interaction occurs. Yet, even when stakeholders are not directly involved or not clearly in the picture (when they are seemingly not watching), at every point in time the reputation of an organization is formed by its activities, choices, decisions, communications, silences, etc. Therefore, the duty of always being conscious of the image/reputation that emerges should always be the concern of all staff.
Although some public relations specializations such as research, publicity, media relations, information management, etc. should be specifically carried out by PR specialists, every employee must see themselves as part of the image making team for the organization.
