word problem

how do I solve this

The sum of two numbers is ten. Using x to represent the smaller number, translate "the difference between twice the larger number and negative twenty" into a variable expression and simplify

Andrew M.

You have one equation and an expression..

x + y = 10     The sum of two numbers is ten

2y - (-20)      the difference between twice the larger
                     number and negative twenty

Your problem seems to be missing some information.
