what doubles equation can answer 4+5=

1+1=2
2+2=4
3+3=6
4+4=8

If you know your doubles, then it should be easy to go from 4 + 4 = 8 to 4 + 5 = 9.

Yet 4 + 5 is not a double.
No doubles equation can answer 4 + 5.

No one is claming that 4 + 5 is a doubles equation. It is not. If you know that 4 + 4 = 8, though, as one of your doubles, and 5 is one more than 4, then it's a quick jump tlfrom 4 + 4 = 8 to 4 + 5 = 9.
