Let B = number of books that Bryan reads
Amanda = 2B
Colin = 3B-4
Amanda = 5/8(Bryan + Colin)
2B = 5/8(B+3B-4)
2B = 5/8(4B-4)
Multiply each side by 8 to clear the fraction
16B = 5(4B-4)
16B = 20B - 20
Subtract 20B from each side
-4B =-20
Divide both sides by -4
B = 5
So Bryan reads 5 books a month, Amanda reads 10 books a month, and Colin reads 11 books a month.
