In an isosceles triangle, the legs are 1unit less than twice the length of the base. If the length of the base of the triangle is represented by x, create an expression that represents the perimeter

You know that an isosceles triangle has 2 equal sides and 2 equal angles.

 

Let one side = x

The other two sides = 2x - 1

 

The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of all three sides.  Use this fact and the variables to come up with the expression for the perimeter.
