7 cookies will cost $2.80 right now
Find C = normal price
Cost (today) = C - $.75
(C - $.75) 7 = $2.80 (cost of 7 cookies today)
Divide both sides of equation by 7
C - $.75 = $2.80 / 7
Add $.75 to both sides of equation
C = $.40 + $.75
C = $1.15

correction to your comment- you said it right but there is no 7 at the end of 2.87 thus it would be 7(c-0.75)=2.87
