Calculate the UNIT COST:
At the supermarket, each pen costs one fifth of 6.25 English pounds = 1.25 per pen
At the village shop, each pen costs one sixth of 7.20 English pounds = 1.20 per pen
The place having the lowest unit cost is considered the best place to buy. On the other hand, if you only have 7 pounds, you'll have to purchase at the supermarket !
Junayed, how many packs of 5 would you have to buy from the supermarket to get 30 pens? Six, right? If one pack is 6.25, then six is 6(6.25) = 37.5.
How many packs of 6 from the shop do you need to buy to get 30 pens? Five, and 7.20(5) = 36.
Our calculations show it's cheaper to get 30 pens from the Village Shop.
Hope this helps!
