Let x-14 represent the player who came in second.

 

x+x-14 = 236 RBI's (the abbreviation for Runs Batted In).

 

2x-14 = 236

Add 14 to both sides

2x = 250

Divide both sides by 2

x = 125

 

125 represents the league leader (Player A).  The second place player (Player B) had 14 less, or 125-14 = 111.

To check to make sure it works, 125+111 = 236
