To find the oil left in the drum, we need to first find how much oil was poured out of the drum. The oil taken from the drum was used to fill 12 containers with volume 750 mL and 10 containers with volume 1.5 L.
We need to work in Liters because the unit must be the same if we are going to add or subtract quantities. We can convert mL to L knowing that 1 mL = 1/1000 L. This can also be expressed as 1000 mL = 1 L. We can use this relationship to convert 750 mL x (1 L/1000 mL) and that gives us 0.750 L for these containers.
So now we have 12 containers x 0.750 mL = 9 L and 10 containers x 1.5 L = 15 L. This means we are pouring out a total of 24 L from the drum that originally had 33 L in it. So the drum now has 33 L - 24 L = 9 L remaining in the drum.
Hope that helps you out! :)
