Let L + 232,000 = Sacremento's population

 

TOTAL:

 

    Las Vegas + Sacremento = 2,688,000

  

            L + L + 232,000 = 2,688,000

 

            2L +232,000 = 2,688,000

 

            2L = 2,456,000

 

            L = 1,228,000

 

Las Vegas population was 1,228,000

 

Sacremento's population was

 

        2,688,000 - 1,228,000

 

      = 1,460,000
