I would set up a ratio to solve this question.

1 batch/1.5 cups of flour

Because we don't know how many cups of flour we need for the 3 batches of cookies, we'll call it X. Now set up an equation to solve for X.

1 batch   = 3 batches      
1.5 cups     X cup of flour

Now cross multiply and you'll have:

X = 4.5

 

So you need 4.5 cups of flour :)

You know how much flour you need for one batch. Usually, for 3 batches you need 3 times more. So just multiply the 1.5 you need for 1 by 3.
