The area of the rectangle is length X width = 25 X 20 = 500 m2.
We want to consider a square of side s that has the same area. The area of the square is A = s2.
Set s2 = 500
So, s = √500
Or
s = √5 √100 since the square root of a product is the product of the square roots
s = 10√5
We are told that √5 = 2.236
So, s = (10)(2.236) = 22.36 meters
