Since Sandra is 4 ft tall, and Pablo is 10% taller than Sandra. To find Pablo's height you must first do 10% of 4, to calculate that you change the percent to a decimal: 0.10 for 10% and then you multiply the number by that
In this case 10% of 4 is 0.10 x 4 = 0.4.
To find Pablo's height you add this to Sandra's height, 4 + 0.4 = 4.4 ft
Now you can use this to find Michaela's height. Except we are using 8%.
8% as a decimal is 0.08.
- To change a percent to a decimal, you move the decimal over two places to the left
- Example: 12% = 0.12, 2% = 0.02, 16.8% = 0.168
- When you see any whole number, example 5, the decimal is directly to the right of the number, it is always there and using the number that I just used as an example: 5. but most of the time we do not want to write it because sometimes that might get confused for a period and it is unnecessary to write it
