if petrol (gasoline) is 1.057 pounds (money, not weight) per liter in London, England, how much does gas cost in London in dollars per gallon? note :( today 1 pound = 1.61 dollars and 1 liter = .2642 gallons)

Here's how I think of conversions. They act sort of like fractions.

 

Miles/gal *feet/mile = feet / gal since the miles "cancel out.

rotation/min * min/hour * hour/day = rotation/day.

 

So, you have to sometimes flip the conversion.

 

1.057 pounds/liter * 1.61 dol/pound * 1/.2642 liter/gal = check the units first to make sure things cancel dol/gal

 

So since this is what you want, we get $6.50 per gallon.

 

They say gas is expensive in Europe!!!!!
