If a sheet of paper is square and its area is 36 sq. in, then it's 6" by 6".
a photo, if its sides are parallel to the sides of the square, could be a maximum height of 6" and maximum width also 6".
If the photo were aligned parallel to a diagonal, its height could be almost as much as 6√2 height, but the closer to this theoretical maximum height, the narrower would it (photo) have to be.
What's the reason for all of those extra letters in your question??? Have you written this question exactly as it was stated by your math teacher??

Well, a teacher is an authority, but there ought to be a good reason for any instruction. Some of the best advice you'll ever get is "Question Authority.!
