In a homecoming game, a girls' basketball team scored 1/3 of its points during the first quarter, 1/4 of its points during the 2nd quarter, 1/3 of its points during the 3rd quarter, and 8 points in the 4th quarter. How many points did the team score in the game?

1/3 + 1/4 + 1/3 = 4/12 + 3/12 + 4/12 = 11/12

 

If they scored 11/12 of their total points in the first 3 quarters, they scored 1/12 in the 4th.

 

Since 8 is that one of twelve parts, each of the 12 parts are 8, and 8(12) = 96 total points.
