This is just my best guess, but....
An ether is a chemical compound with the structure:
R-O-R
Octyl is an eight-carbon chain just like methyl, or ethyl, or propyl, etc.
Pentyl is a five-carbon chain.
So your structure would look like:

5 C on one side, 8 C on the other.
