Need to know how to solve and how you got an answer. A beam of light moves from an optical fiber (n=1.44) to air. If the beam of light entered at an angle of 12 degrees, what is the angle of refraction outside the optical fiber?

According to snell's law, light will always bend at and angle when reaching a different medium or material. The angle is in reference to the normal line.  The nomal line is perpendicular to the medium's surface.

 

Use the equation

where:

n = index of refraction

θ = angle of refraction
