Evaluate f(x) + 1 

 

Hi, I need help with this problem. The step where you plug it into the x's , it becomes one huge complex fraction and that's where I don't know how to solve.

f(x) = (x - 2)/(x + 1)

f(x) + 1 = (x - 2)/(x + 1) + 1

f(x) + 1 = (x -2)/(x + 1) + (x +1)/(x + 1)   GCF

f(x) + 1 = (x - 2 + x + 1)/(x + 1)                add numerators

f(x) + 1 = (2x - 1)/(x + 1)                          combine like terms
