How much did Li Na's parents give her to start?

Li Na is saving money.Her parents gave her an amount to start,and since then she has been putting aside a fixed amount each week.After six weeks,Li Ba has a total of 82$ made from her own savings in addition to the amount her parents gave her.Fourteen weeks from the start of the process Li Na has $118.

$82 after 6 weeks, $118 after 14 weeks, $36 saved in those 8 weeks; 8 divided into 36 = $4.5 /wk = $27; 6 wks(4.5) + Starting money $27 = $82. To find that you take $82 and minus $27 = $55 which is what Li Na started with. 14(4.5) = 63 + Starting $55 = $118; $63 + Starting money $55 = $118 - $63 = $55

The long way to answer this is: if x = Weeks and y = $ saved then (x,y) = (6, 82), (14, 118) if 𝓶 = 𝓨𝟐—𝓨𝟏 ÷ 𝓧𝟐-𝓧𝟏, = 118 — 82 ÷ 14 — 6, = 36/8; 𝓶= 4.5 if 𝓶= 4.5, then y = 𝓶𝓧 +𝒃 is for Linear line. What's "𝒃"? 𝓨= 𝓶𝓧+𝒃, 82 = 4.5⦅6⦆ + 𝒃, 82 = 27 + 𝒃, 55 = 𝒃, now double check your work 𝓨 = 𝓶𝓧+𝒃, 118 = 4.5⦅14⦆ + 𝒃, 118 = 63 + 𝒃, 55 = 𝒃. If 𝓧 = 0, then ... 𝓨 = 4.5 ⦅0⦆ + 55, 𝓨 = $55 ⇐ Which means Li Na started with $55. Now you would plot the slope.. 𝓧=0, 𝓨=4.5, 𝓧=𝟏, then.. 𝓨=4.5(1) + 55, 𝓨=$59.5. 𝓧=𝟐, 𝓨=4.5, then.. 𝓨=4.5⦅2⦆ +55, 𝓨=64. You can see the pattern just multiple 4.5 with ⦅𝓧⦆ and + 55 for the 𝓨 and plot, for the 6 weeks 𝓧=6; 𝓨=4.5⦅6⦆ + 55; 𝓨=82. Repeat (if you need) until you get to 14 weeks, 𝓧=14, then.. 𝓨=4.5⦅14⦆ + 55; 𝓨=118. This is from Common Core no answer key yet. I got this from our new tutor Tutor of Las Vegas speak to Adam, the owner, we did use Chris as our tutor. Adam gave us the first way and Chris the second way.

Li Na changed her last name in the middle of the problem to Ba.
 
You can think of this as an arithmetic sequence with a fixed difference d that Li sets aside each month. If we think of a1 as 82, then a9 would be 118.  In an arithmetic sequence an = a1 + (n-1)d.  In this case n = 9. Substitute to find d. Now switch the subscripts so that 82 is a6 , n=6, and you  are looking for a1.  
 
Assuming "her own savings" refers to initial amount her parents gave, you should get 59.5.
