The formula for the volume of a square-based pyramid is:
V = a2(h/3), where "V" is equal to volume, "a" is equal to base edge, and "h" is equal to height.
You are given the value of the base edge (a = 6)
If the base edge is equal to (1/2)h, or (1/2)h = 6 then, 2(1/2)h = 2(6). This gives you h = 12.
Now you just plug into your formula:
V = 62(12/3) = 36(4) = 144
