Find value of c : a=vb^2 +c^2 if a=25 and b=20

Hi, I need help with solving the equation

a=vb² + c²

c² = (vb²)/a

c= sqr (vb²/a)

c=[ sqr (v) x sqr (b^{2)] / sqr (a)}

c=[ sqr (v) x b / sqr (a)

c=[ sqr (v) x [20] / sqr (25)

c=[ sqr (v) x [20] / 5

c= sqr (v) x 4

c= 4 sqr (v)

sqr = square root

Just checking your notation:  do you mean sqrt(b^2 + c^2)?  

 

If that's the case, then 25 = sqrt(20^2 + c^2)

 

square both sides:    25^2 = 20^2 + c^2

 

625 = 400 + c^2    now subtract 400

 

225 = c^2   now take the square root of both sides

 

+15, -15 = c

 

If this is not the correct equation, please let me know.
