Total price t=price before tax + tax

 

price before tax = $65

 

tax($) = price before tax * tax rate

 

tax($) = $65 * .06 = $3.90

 

Total price t = $65 + $3.90 = $68.90

 

Alternatively t =  price before tax * (1+tax rate) = $65 * (1.06) = $68.90
