One of the interesting things about dice is that opposite sides add up to 7.
So if you see a 1 on one side then 6 is on the other.
To get a 6, we can have the following combinations
1 and 5
2 and 4
3 and 3
If we have 1 and 5, the numbers on the opposite side are 6 and 2, for a total of 8
If we have 2 and 4, the numbers on the opposite side are 5 and 3, for a total of 8
If we have 3 and 3, the numbers on the opposite side are 4 and 4, for a total of 8.
So if we roll two dice and get 6, the number of dots on the opposite sides of the two dice is 8.
