If x quantity with pieces..find?

If 4000 boxes can pack 12 pieces of a product ..how many boxes does it need to pack 10 products in a box

Remember that:    (number of boxes)*(number of pieces per box) = (number of pieces)

               (number of boxes)*((number of pieces/(box)) = (number of pieces)

 

                 (4000 boxes)*((12 pieces)/(1 box)) = 48000 pieces

 

                  (x boxes)*((10 pieces)/(1 box)) = 48000 pieces

                           (x boxes) =  (48000 pieces) * ((1 box)/(10 pieces))

                                [multiply both sides by  (1 box)/(10 pieces)

                            x boxes =  4800 boxes      [note: pieces cancels out]

 

Problems like this are SOoo... much easier when you understand the units.
