since this is a log base 10 scale, a pH of 1 is ten times more acidic than a pH of 2.
Mathematically,
we want the ratio of H+ of the two substances:
for each substance we can write 10^pH = -[H+]
Therefore the ratio of H+ for the two is 10^1/10^2 = 10.
