Graphing 1)y=2x+0 2)x+y=3
1. y=2x+0
The equation is in slope intercept form.
The slope is 2/1 and the y-intercept is 0.
To graph draw an axis on graph paper. Label the horizontal axis x and the vertical axis y.
Put your pencil on point (0,0). Since the slope is 2/1. From (0,0) take your pencil and count off two units up and one unit right and place a small dot. Repeat from that point--count two units up and one unit left and place another small dot. Now you have three points. Take your ruler and draw a straight line that goes through all three points. You should put arrows on the end of the lines to show that the line goes on forever (infinitely).
2. x+y=3
This equation is in Standard Form, Ax+By=C. In order to graph the equation, it should be put into slope-intercept form, y=mx+b.
x+y=3
Add -x to both sides
y= -x+3 slope intercept form
The slope is -1/1 and the y-intercept is 3.
To graph once again draw an xy axis.
Since the y-intercept is 3, take your pencil and put it on point (0,0).
Now count up 3 units. The point is (0,3); put a small dot there.
The slope is -1/1, so put you pencil point at (0,3). Count up one unit and left one unit--put a small dot.
Repeat from the new point, count up on unit and left one unit--put another small dot.
Take your ruler and draw a straight line through the three points.
You have just graphed y=-x+3
good luck
