Six hundred pennies are placed in a row. If every other penny is replaced by a nickel and every third coin is replaced by a quarter, what is the final value of the 600 coins?

After the nickel-distributing, the string of money would be

1 cent, 5 cents, 1,5, ...,1, 5  which has the value of 300 pairs each worth 6 cents.

 

Now, along comes the quarters, producing the following string:

 

1, 5, 25, 5, 1, 25, and then this group of 6 coins repeats 100 times.

 

Each group-of-6 is worth $0.62 so the 100 groups-of-6 must be worth $62.00
