Is the formula for calcium sulfur CaS or CaSO4 ?

I am very confused by this. Shouldnt it be Cas? What is the difference between the two? 

 

My hmwrk question asked to write a balanced formula for calcium sulfur. This is my answer : calcium(2+ charge) sulfur( -2) so it balances out. 1Ca + 1S= CaS

 

 

Am I doing something wrong ?

CaS is called Calcium Sulfide

CaSO₄ is called Calcium Sulfate

 

Given the question I would say you are correct.
