The number of people who didn't pay was?

A society of 12 people had to pay $1224. A group of it didn't pay and each one of the others payed $34 more than what they had to pay to cover the non-payer's dues. The number of people who didn't pay was?

1) 1224 / 12 = 102 ( this is the amount that each SHOULD have paid)

2) 102 + 34 = 136 (This is the amount that the payers had to pay)

3) 1224 / 136 = 9 ( This is the number of actual payers)

 

find the difference between the total number of people and the actual payers and you will have your answer.
