Since there is no multiplication by any
quantity outside of the parenthesis in this,
all you actually have is just an addition
problem. The parenthesis are not necessary.
(2x^2+3x-4)+(x^2-x-2) = 2x2+3x-4+x2-x-2
Let's rearrange similar terms next to each other
to make this simpler to see:
2x2 + x2 + 3x - x - 4 -2
Adding like terms we have
3x2 + 2x -6
