Belk is having a pre-Thanksgiving (35% off) sale on all Big & tall men's shirts. The normal price of the popular Columbia casual fishing shirts is $54.99. What is the price of the shirt after the 35% discount?

When considering a discount, do the following

 

1) Express the discount as a decimal        .35

2) Subtract that decimal form 1.00         1-.35 = .65

 

Now multiply that factor by the original price.

54.99 x .65 = $35.74
