ii) if f(x)=x²+6x+8 has equal roots; what's the value of k?

There is no k in either equation, so this question cannot be answered as stated. Furthermore,

x² + 6x + 8 = (x + 4)(x + 2),

so its roots are -4 and -2 (not -8 and -2). It DOES NOT have equal roots as in the second question.
