I give my mom $10 to buy a gift. My mom uses her debit card to pay for the gift instead of using the cash. At another store I want to purchase another gift for $10.00. My mom uses her debit card for this transaction, At a third store, I see another gift for $10.00. For this transaction, my mom gives me the $10.00 cash that I gave her for the first transaction How much money do I owe back to my mom?

Net result is you gave her nothing and she spent 20 + tax.

 

I have no idea about your sales tax, but 8% is a fair guess.

 

20 * 1.085 = $21.70
