Hi! I solved this problem, but keep getting a different answer from the one the professor marked as correct. He never went over the problem, so I am wondering if he made a mistake, which he has done in the past, or if I am missing something.
The problem is:
Magnesium reacts with HCl to produce MgCl2 and hydrogen gas. How many milliliters of a 1.85M HCl solution completely reacts with 4.00g of Magnesium?
Mg + 2HCl = MgCl2 + H2
The answer choices are:
178ml
88.9ml
123ml
609ml
My class peers and I are getting 178ml as our answer, but the answer marked correct is 88.9ml. If someone could explain and confirm which answer is actually correct, I would really appreciate it!!
