Descartes considers deception to be a sign of weakness. He reasons that God is not weak, therefore God is not a deceiver.
This is a erroneous converse of the logic, i.e., one can be weak and yet not be a deceiver.
One could recall that God promised Adam and Eve that if they eat of the Tree of Good and Evil, they would die.
They did not.
He deceived.
