When we graph these two equations on the same coordinate system, they will intersect. This point of intersection is the solution to the system.
To graph y=2x:
Plot the first point, which is (0, 0). This is the y-intercept.
Use the slope and first point as a reference to plot the second point. The slope is 2. The second point is (1, 2).
Connect these points throughout the coordinate system.
To graph y=-2x+8:
Plot the first point, which is (0, 8). This is the y-intercept,
Use the slope and first point as a reference to plot the second the point. The slope is -2. The second point is (1, 6).
Connect these points throughout the coordinate system.
Once you have your line, look for the point of intersection.
