To work this problem you need to have everything in the same units.
A 4 foot sub would be 48 inches. (12 inches in 1 foot times 4 feet)
To find out how many 6 inch subs can be cut from the 48 inch sub, divide 48 by 6. You get 8 6 inch subs.
If one 6 inch sub costs $3.95 then find the cost of 8, you would multiply $3.95 by 8 and get $31.60.
To figure out the savings you would subtract The $24 (cost of 4 foot sub) from $31.60 (cost of 8 6 inch subs) and get
$7.60 which is the savings.
