This is an exponential problem, involving doubling, and is fairly simple to solve: Simply start with one (1), and double it. Now you have two (2), double the number of shells Fiona found on the first day. For day three (3), you would double two (2), and so forth.
Day 1: 1 shell
Day 2: 2 shells
Day 3: 4 shells
Day 4: 8 shells
Day 5: 16 shells
Day 6: 32 shells
Day 7: 64 shells
