.7kg=weight of the box of chocolates after you eat half of the chocolates=0.5*weight of chocolates +weight of box
Multiplying the second equation by -2 on both sides gives us
-1.4kg=-weight of chocolates -2 weight of box
Adding this equation to the first equation, canceling the weight of chocolates out, and solving for weight of box we get
1.1kg=weight of the box of chocolates=weight of chocolates +weight of box
-1.4kg=-weight of chocolates -2 weight of box

or simply .3kg=weight of box after multiplying(or dividing) both sides by -1.
